Rector Transition

Vestry News

Rector transition moves forward   The Vestry is very pleased to announce the calling of the Reverend Julie Wakelee-Lynch as our Interim Rector. Julie is a "cradle" Episcopalian and native Californian. She studied political science at Occidental College in Los Angeles, theology at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific (M.Div. 2003) and ethics at the Graduate Theological Union, earning an MA in ethics and social theory in 2004. She and her husband Joseph (Joe) Wakelee-Lynch are celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary this month and they have one child, Grace, who is 13.

Outside of church, her interests include gardening, kayaking, running, yoga, papermaking, being a baseball fan, reading the funnies and doing the Sunday crossword. She is currently at work as first-round editor and contributing writer for a book project for the national church, developing a new resource that she hopes will help people deepen their practice of daily prayer. She served for the past four years as associate at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Long Beach, Ca.

Julie will start transitioning into her new role with a few “guest appearances” in June, and should be settled in by mid-July.  We will keep you posted as her schedule is finalized, and of our plans for a formal welcome for Julie and her family.
