"To know and share God's light."

In the Pastoral Care Ministry, Epiphany offers the opportunity to care for others in need, and to take our commitment to community seriously.

Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord: and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)

Opportunities to share in God’s gifts include:

Healing ministry team: This team provides prayers and laying on of hands for healing during and after Sunday services. Visit the side chapel during these times if you want prayers for yourself or someone you love.

Prayer chain: This group which is connected primarily by email prays daily for the needs and concerns of the community and provides an underpinning of prayer for our parish life.

Lay Eucharistic Minister II: These individuals are specially trained and licensed by the diocese. Lay Eucharistic ministers bring communion to homebound or hospitalized parishioners.

Emergency Meals: This ministry provides meals for parish members who are experiencing any form of physical, emotional, or spiritual difficulty. Volunteers agree to be called upon to periodically provide a meal to a fellow parishioner, or to bring cookies for a memorial reception.

Sunshine Cards:  Greetings are sent to parish members and others friends of the community who are facing any crisis or need.

Nursing Home Outreach: This group leads a prayer and singing service weekly at the Bay View Villa Convalescent Home in San Carlos. Communion is also provided on a monthly basis.

Stanford Episcopal Chaplaincy: The chaplaincy, which is made up of an ordained minister and a broad group of volunteers, is an ideal ministry for individuals who feel called to serve in a hospital setting. After completing the Stanford Spiritual Care training course, volunteers visit and pray with Episcopal patients at the hospital.

All of us are called to serve those in need—and there are a huge number of opportunities here at Epiphany.  Presently, there are over 60 dedicated people who provide these wonderful services.

If you feel called to any of these ministries or want to explore the possibility of getting involved, feel free to contact our deacon Hailey McKeefry Delmas or pastoral care chairperson Lois Williams.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Should you find yourself in a position when you cannot be active in our community for any reason, please remember that our Pastoral Care Team is here to assist you. We value your company and friendship and we want to make sure that you continued to be and feel connected to the community.

Please feel free to contact our rector Gail Greenwell, our deacon Hailey McKeefry Delmas, deacon Carol Bowen or any of our ministry team leaders when there is any change in your situation. As a community, we are committed to caring for each other.
