The Epiphany Book Club is a rather informal group of folks who like to
read good books, love to eat home cooked food, and always enjoy talking about
both. The club gets together roughly once a month during the year, but tends
to take the summer months, and December, off. Each meeting begins with wine,
then grace and dinner, followed by a lively discussion and critique about the
current book. As
the discussion winds down there is a vote to determine the next title.
Generally there is a balance of fiction and non fiction selections during
the year.
Occasionally there are special events, like a visit to Bay
Meadows after reading Sea Biscuit, or a trip to the movies when a
previous selection has been made into a picture.
Neither a knowledge of literature nor cooking skills are required. Only a
hunger for both! If you're interested, please contact the host or
hostess, usually listed on the home page. There's always room for more.

come to dinner and see for yourself!)
The Foyer Groups are informal
groups of parishioners who get together monthly to enjoy each
other’s company. There is no agenda or plan- just casual
socializing.
All adults in the parish are
invited to join Foyer Groups. The members take turns hosting the
group in their homes. If someone’s home is small, the church
lounge can be made available to the group. Some groups have
enjoyed picnics or meeting at a local restaurant.
Generally, the host provides the
main course while the other members fill in the rest of the meal
such as bread, salad, dessert, appetizer, etc.
The groups are put together
randomly so that all participants can get to know others in the
parish. This is a great way to meet and get to know those you
might not have a chance to visit with otherwise. The groups meet
for one year and then new groups are arranged.
A kickoff potluck is usually
held each fall in the parish hall and the groups are
announced then.
Foyer is a fun way to meet others and enjoy
an evening of good talk and terrific meals. Please talk with
those in the parish to get their take on this fun ministry.

The Hospitality Committee works to ensure that members and
visitors alike fully experience the warm welcome that is at the
heart of the Church of Epiphany. The Hospitality Committee

the year, often in collaboration with worship, outreach,
education or fund-raising activities including:

must be experienced to be believed!
Advent and Epiphany events
Maundy Thursday meal – a beautiful Seder meal
Parish Picnic – everyone enjoys this traditional picnic with
food and games
Parish-wide and Women’s Retreats –times of rejuvenation
and
other Parish happenings
Events are assigned a Host who is responsible for creating an
environment of welcome from beginning to end.
Host duties include:
Creating bulletin announcements
Working with church staff to send out postcards or
reminders, if necessary
Reserving the required space on the main calendar
Scheduling a babysitter from the Church’s list, if required
Personally inviting new members to attend the event
Posting sign-up and volunteer sheets as required
Arriving early to facilitate set-up and to greet people as
they arrive
Coordination of clean-up
If you would like to join the Hospitality Committee, participate
in the planning of one of these events, or volunteer as a host
to be available for future Epiphany events, please contact the
office.
The Women of Epiphany get together each
Fall for the annual Epiphany Women's Retreat, Friday evening through Sunday
lunchtime. Every woman at
Epiphany, new member or long time member of the Parish, is invited for this time
of prayer and fellowship. There will be time for hiking, reading and simply
spending time with friends, new and old. Bring handwork, bring a favorite book
and look forward to a wonderful weekend.
