"To know and share God's light."

We want to say a special welcome to those children and parents who are new to our church family, and tell them a little bit about our wonderful children’s ministry programs.

Children in grades pre-K through 4th grade

Here at Epiphany we provide a warm and nurturing Sunday school program taught by loving and dedicated teachers and parent volunteers. Children in grades pre-K through 5th grade participate in “Godly Play.” Godly Play is a distinctive approach to Christian Education based on the Montessori method. Deeply rooted in our spiritual tradition, it uses story telling and play to promote learning through discovery. In a safe and stimulating environment, sensorial materials are provided that engage the whole child-hands, heart, mind, senses, and intuition. It creates an opportunity for the children to ‘Play with God’.  This year, the Godly Play room for older children will be enriched with new and deeper stories for these Godly Play veterans.

Middle School Children

Church school is also available for middle school student grades 6th through 8th. The Middle School class will meet in the new middle school class room. The middle school curriculum follows the Godly Play calendar when possible. Therefore, the students often read and discuss the same bible stories their siblings are experiencing in Godly Play. The lessons include a bible story, group discussions and a follow up activity. During the year they learn about the church calendar and the liturgies of the Episcopal Church.

Both Godly Play and middle School students participate in social ministry and outreach projects throughout the church year.  We are especially involved in supporting the Heifer Project.

Childcare for infants and toddlers

We provide childcare for infants and toddlers in two nurseries during the 10AM service.  The infant nursery is located on the first floor, down the hallway from the entrance to the Parish Hall.  Teens and parents work together to provide childcare every Sunday.  The childcare program is a parent coop, parents who have children using the nursery are scheduled on a rotation with other parents.

If you are interested in using the Epiphany child care and participating in the parent rotation, please contact Amber.

Childcare is also provided for other Epiphany events or programs such as the Annual Meeting, Baptism classes or Couples nights.

For information regarding any of these programs please contact the Rev. Amber Stancliffe Evans,
Associate for Youth and Children’s Ministries.
